The concert on 7th October,2014 at the United Reformed church in Farnham,Surrey.
The 18th annual season of Music at Farnham United Reformed church began on Tuesday 7th October with a concertgiven by Fumi Otsuki, the Japanese violinist, accompanied by Neus Guiu Retort from Spain.
Their concert opened confidently with the striking 1st movement of Mendelssohn’s sonata in F for violin and piano,a rippling movement, which provided some 15minutes of sheer joy.
Smetana’s From the Hoemland gave the audience the idea of the way the composer felt about his native Bohemia.
From the opening to the fiery ending with many changes of mood these virtuoso pieces were throughly delightful.
The 3rd item was a little more right-hearted:the Rondion on the theme of Beethoven by Kreisler, very tuneful and enjoyable.
Finally Fumi played the maginificent 1st movement from the violin solo in G-minor by J.S.Bach,an impressive piece of musical architecture if ever there was one.
